Our History

1 Peter 2:9

United Faith International Baptist Church was established as the result of the vision by a very determined man to start a new church. In January 1996, the late Pastor Joseph Carter (founding Pastor) joined with Reverend Paul Brewer (Interim Pastor) and others to form the Solid Faith Baptist Church. Their first place of worship was temporary space at the State Convention of Baptist Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. After much prayer, the Lord led the congregation to Stelzer Road Baptist Church who extended an invitation to unite with them in worship. The fellowship began with a “get acquainted” service on the first Sunday of May 1996.

On September 18, 1996 both churches were ordained into one family. In 1997, in the name of brotherhood, the church family united together under the new name of United Faith International Baptist Church under the direction of Interim Pastor Paul Brewer.

On April 4, 1997 United Faith International Baptist Church (UFI) became a new corporation recognized by the State of Ohio as a place of worship. Pastor Brewer was later called on by the Lord to serve in other capacities.

On the first Sunday in April 2001 Pastor Reginald Hayes Sr. became the first permanent pastor and assumed leadership responsibilities.

Our Future

1 Peter 2:9

From the youngest to the oldest there is something for everyone to participate in at United Faith International Baptist Church. UFI Ministries include Sunday School, UFI Mass Choir, Ushers, Children’s Choir, Children’s Church, Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Girls of Destiny, Young Men’s Ministry Drama Ministry, Transportation Ministry, and Vacation Bible school. In July 2012 under the direction of Pastor Hayes the West Columbus UFI Mission Ministry began a fellowship at Franklin Station (formerly Sunshine Terrace) public housing complex where service is held and dinner is served on the 2nd & 4th Sunday of each month

Under Pastor Hayes’ leadership the church has continued to increase its community involvement through S.H.I.F.T. Development Corporation Ministry, which includes Food Pantry Ministry, Tutoring Ministry, and summer programs.

Future projects under S.H.I.F.T. include daycare, prison re-entry and adult GED, and senior daycare programs, senior care, wellness & counseling, school latchkey, community recreation center, prison ministry, and job training throughout the Columbus, Ohio Metro Area..

God continues to bless at UFI. In May of 2004 the mortgage on United Faith International Baptist Church’ five-acre campus was retired. In late 2006 and early 2007, $250,000 in major renovations was performed on the church building and property. In 2013 the church sanctuary, classrooms, food pantry and ladies restroom were redesigned and renovated. During these times of fiscal uncertainty United Faith International Baptist Church remains fiscally responsible. To God be the glory for the things He has done.
